Refursbishment of the Gorbea 1 office building

The comprehensive reforms being undertaken at the Gorbea 1 office building represent a sweeping change to both building, structure and image

The comprehensive reforms being undertaken at the Gorbea 1 office building, located on Rosario Pino Street in Madrid, represent a sweeping change to both building, structure and image, the latter involving both the façades and the interiors, designed to adapt the edifice to the modern workplace demands, as well as significantly upgrade the building's energy efficiency, public access and comfort.

The building was built in 1970, comprising 15 floors organized around a rectangular core that has been completely rearranged locating all elevators and staircases, prioritizing flexibility and natural light. On the top floor, a new terrace has been set up as a garden and event area. The old marble finish on the façade has been replaced by an attractive and elegant curtain wall that behaves differently depending on the facade’s orientation.

In addition to improving user accessibility and comfort, the project – a candidate for LEED Platinum green building qualification – has provided the edifice with more energy-efficient facilities, as well as renovated façades which employ solar protection reducing emissions to the lowest possible levels.

Through these comprehensive reforms, the Gorbea 1 building has become a reference for modern rental properties in the capital, complying with the highest standards in terms of quality and safety
