Marineda City

An intervention that redefines the retail experience in one of Spain’s largest shopping destinations.

The extension of Marineda City transforms the former El Corte Inglés building, fully integrating it into the existing complex and creating a new axis that strengthens the urban, commercial, and experiential dimensions of the site.

Over 14,000 m² are reorganized across three levels, introducing new retail, dining, and multipurpose areas. A double-height longitudinal corridor structures the intervention: a naturally lit gallery that optimizes circulation, improves orientation, and hosts areas for events, exhibitions, and immersive experiences.

The interior design reinterprets the shopping experience through a warm, sensory approach — surfaces that reflect and enhance natural light and textures that enrich spatial perception.

Organic forms guide circulation and introduce a visual narrative inspired by Galicia’s landscape: fishing nets, vegetal textures, forest geometries, and the movement of the sea are reimagined in architectural elements and furnishings. A palette of warm and earthy tones — muted greens, creams, ochres, and oranges — combines with materials such as wood, microcement, and treated steel, adding warmth, contrast, and depth. Integrated greenery and strategic reflections evoke an almost outdoor sense of openness.

The project renews the overall image of the complex without compromising its identity. The new volume’s façade, visible from the immediate surroundings, acts as an urban landmark and revitalizes the center’s exterior presence.

With a sober and functional architecture, the intervention enhances the visitor experience, strengthens the connection with the city, and anticipates new models of interaction between retail space, leisure, and urban life.
