Gran Canaria Stadium

L35 Architects redesigns Gran Canaria Stadium to transform it into a sustainable, innovative icon ready for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The “La Nube” project involves a comprehensive renovation and expansion of Gran Canaria Stadium, raising capacity from 32,418 to 44,484 spectators with a new continuous stand that enhances natural light and passive ventilation.

The roof features a lightweight radial structure – supported by a compression ring and 44 columns – which, along with strategic membranes and arches, delivers dynamism and efficiency. With a strong environmental focus, it integrates mist-capture systems, photovoltaic panels, and rainwater harvesting.

The stadium is designed as a multifunctional venue, including dining areas, conference rooms, and a sports innovation hub, ensuring continuous activity and preventing the facility from sitting idle for long stretches.
