Village Verde “Design of the Year” at the 2025 PORCELANOSA Awards

· June 5, 2025

Last Thursday, May 29, Village Verde was recognized as “Design of the Year” at the 2025 PORCELANOSA Awards.

Commissioned by Orion Capital Management and developed by Sotogrande SA, Village Verde occupies  six hectares of fragrant pine and cork oak on the edge of La Reserva Club.  Our studio’s brief was to create a contemporary, low‐density community that feels rooted in the Andalusian landscape while prioritizing sustainability and quality of life.

From the outset, we focused on clean lines, whitewashed façades and generous terraces that frame views of pine groves and courtyards. Shared amenities—shaded walking paths, sand‐bottom pools and outdoor gathering spaces—were organized to foster neighbourly interaction without compromising individual privacy. Thoughtful material choices—including PORCELANOSA’s wood‐effect porcelain tiles, natural stone‐look cladding and bespoke sanitaryware—reinforced a cohesive aesthetic throughout.“This award reflects our belief that good architecture must resonate with its setting and improve daily living,” say L35’s lead architects Tristán López‐Chicheri and Borja Fernández del Vallado Fernández‐Bravo. “Working alongside Orion Capital Management and Sotogrande SA, we pursued a design that balances community, sustainability and respect for nature.”

The PORCELANOSA Awards assemble an independent jury of international architects and interior designers to recognize projects that seamlessly integrate premium materials into exceptional built environments. Village Verde was singled out for its clarity of form, material consistency and commitment to environmental integration.

We extend our gratitude to Orion Capital Management for entrusting us with this project, and to Sotogrande SA for their ongoing dedication to high‐quality, sustainable developments. Designing Village Verde has been deeply rewarding, and receiving the “Design of the Year” distinction underscores the collaborative spirit and design principles at the heart of L35.
