Summer of Art at Our Sotogrande Office

· June 5, 2025

From 8 to 31 August, the Sotogrande headquarters of L35 Architects—located in the Sotogrande Marina (Calle Ribera del Marlin, unit 36)—will host a selection of works by the artist Guiomar Álvarez de Toledo under the title “Realidades Ilusorias.”

Guiomar Álvarez de Toledo (Madrid, 1958) is the guest artist exhibiting throughout August. She describes herself as “a figurative artist. I like to give my paintings an intimate quality. I start from classical realism and, from there, my works evolve into a very personal expression based on light set against the deepest shadows, offering a transcendental vision of the subject.”

The exhibition features her spectacular oil paintings of animals. Her fascination with wildlife spans many years, beginning with bull-fighting scenes and tropical fauna—elephants, flamingos, rhinoceroses and giraffes. Another constant in her work is the use of geometry, often employed as a backdrop.

Álvarez de Toledo trained at the Academia Peña in Madrid and at Guillermo Muñoz Vera’s academy before completing her Fine Arts studies in Belgium. The renowned painter Antonio López selected her for one of his courses in Albacete. She has held around fifty exhibitions and received numerous prizes and distinctions. Her work forms part of prestigious collections in Spain, the United States, Mexico, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Dominican Republic.

“Our commitment to contemporary art and to our region is the reason we launched this exhibition programme, which aims to bring high-quality creative work to the Sotogrande public throughout the summer months,” says Tristán López Chicheri, CEO of L35.
