“This is an elegant, modern, and emblematic piece in its architectural, sporting, cultural, and environmental vision—deeply connected to the city, the island, and its surroundings,” said Antonio Morales, President of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, during the project’s presentation.
The proposal blends cutting-edge design with sustainable innovation, featuring a translucent membrane that enhances energy efficiency. Advanced systems such as captabrumas, which harvests water from ambient humidity, and state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels will allow the stadium to reduce its carbon footprint, achieve self-sufficiency, and even supply energy to the city.
Rooted in its local identity, the stadium aspires to become a benchmark for sustainable architecture. “It aims to be recognized as a model of efficiency and innovation, setting new standards for environmentally responsible design,” Morales emphasized.
With La Nube, Gran Canaria Stadium looks to the future, aligning functionality, design, and urban responsibility. A project that not only redefines the spectator experience but also strengthens the bond between architecture and the city.
